Dragon Baot Festival Dumplings

This is the second year of me and my sis trying out wrapping rice dumplings during Dragon Boat Festival. Last year was a knock out so we are confident continuing this year. It was mama who pushed us at first, she's afraid that when we got married we knew nothing about cooking, lol. I wanted to learn it too cause i don't want to lose this unforgettable flavor.

It's rather a long process from the beginning to the end, preparation is always the hardest and the most tedious, plus I'm not very good at seasoning so am afraid will ruin the flavors so let mama to do the job. We first washed the bamboo leaves for wrapping the dumplings. And mama prepared pork, mushrooms, dried onions, salted yolks, chestnuts and peanuts. She first stirred fried and seasoned the ingredients with soy sauce and pepper and mixed the rice with peanuts and dried onions, then we were ready to go!

I'm never into rice, plain rice especially, I'm okay with fried rice, sushi, or even porridge, but I don't like plain rice. So mama was clever enough to mix peanuts with rice therefore we get to eat the whole thing instead of leaving it. I was a bit rusty at the beginning when wrapping the dumplings, the shapes didn't come out well. Mama was scolding at me, told me to watch and learn. And then I got better, the shapes of the rice dumplings came out really well, I'm super proud of myself! But we didn't take a lot of pics this year since it was late at night. But here is a pic of last year's during my first try and you can see here, I didn't wrap it properly! LOL

It's been raining non-stop since last week till the weekend and the best pass-time is just to stay in and relax and that's exactly what I did during the weekend. But the shows on tv during weekends are just reround and they were boring, plus the non-stop showing batman series including the lastest dark knight. It made me sick to see dark knight twice or even more times in just one day. HBO was too lady and they shouldn't do this. Went to a night market nearby Sat night, it was drizzling a bit but there were still people hungry for food. We went to a steak house since we didn't know what to eat. But the steak was not bad, better than I expected. They had a small salad buffet where you could get corn chowder and salad but it's rather lousy. On the other hand the steak was better. Afterwards, we took a short stroll at the night market, also bought some coconut and sugarcane juice, I liked it but K didn't like the taste of it. We both thought the sugarcane was too sweet though.

The weather got better next day so we decided to go out and walk around, to grab a late lunch too. We went to this Japanese curry place. It looked not bad from the outside and K went there once with a friend, couldn't remember whether it's good or not. I ordered burger cheese curry rice with soup and K ordered deep fry pork chop curry rice, with salad and drinks. The burger meat was better than I expected lol which was good, the pork chops were so so though. I always have a thing for curry, Japanese, Indian, Thai and Malay, they all have their own singnature flavors. But i love them all :D.

And the sun came out on the way home, was very pretty but quite risky since i needed to take the picture while the scooter was riding lol. But I think I manage quite well. :D :D

bye bye

KENTARO IS AWESOME

When I first knew that DJ Kentaro was coming to have his performance, I knew I had to be there to see his personal charm in real. Was nervous and excited when the day came. Was preparing for weeks just to mee him. It was held in a famous club in Taipei called Luxy. It's my second visit there as well, the first time was to see HIFANA, it was great.
Luxy was basically a huge meat market. People were flashing their assets just to get the attention. I had to do the same just to fill in, didn't feel rather comfortable at the beginning cause i didn't know how to act properly in a night club since i was not so familiar with the ecological system there. But once I saw Kentaro, everythng didn't matter that much now. He was just having so much charisma there on the stage! The interaction of him with the audience was just perfect! The crowds really responsed well to his music. I was totally into his music and was jumping up and down with the music, waving my hands and moving my body and yelling ou so loud. But here came the consquences, cause i was jumping so hard, in the end when it finished, i experienced the most painful footache i've ever had and that moment i just wanted to chopped off my feet or just took off my heels. But i didn't do that, i put myself together, walked around the club just to get food, walked back to the scooter and climed 6 floor back to the room when I took off my heels!!!! And swore to myself i would not wear that again in the near future! lol
KENTARO IS SUPER CUTE!!!!

Ding Tai Fung

Just thought you haven't had enough of food with Victoria during lunch time, we had eve more luxury food at Ding Tai Fung, the world famous cuisin in Taiwan. Tons and tons of people were waiting for the waiters to call their numbers, that includin us as well. Different languages were spoken around you, Cantonese, Japanese, English and other unknown language, and of course our local dialags. I guess it's a must have when you come to Taiwan. It's my second time to visit the restaurant. My surprsing to the popularity was even more than to the food. The food was not bad, i liked the fried rice with pork chops. We didn't order a lot due to the big lunch we had earlier. Simply we just wanted to have a taste of it since we were nearby. The xiao long bao was definitely without a doubt a must have, and also the steamed red bean buns and the sesame buns. I wanted to order a dish of stir fried green but unfortunately there was no room at all in my stomach. lol
Last time when i visited my uncle we talked about this place. He loved the steamed xiao long bao there but I thought they were alright. I liked the fried rice better but he didn't seem to agree. But then again you all have differnt tastes there's no right or wrong on this. :)
It was a fun dinner though. :)
