JU

With a cold day like this or some really chilling days, eating hot food can never be comfier. I still remembered the first time when I was introduced to this restaurant, I was amazed with the presentation of the food and how it's layed out. Even the interior was so settled and created an atmosphere of zen. Basically you can choose your own base(plain, chinese herb, or the spicy one). And you choose your main course (pork, beef, lamb, chicken slices) and some seafood balls or other side dishes, and of course, the dessert.

The flavor is actually very origin, simple yet tasty. K took his parents there once and they both liked it. I'm sure my mom will like it. She always has a thing for Japanese food and I can understand why. But that's the only thing she will try besides Chinese. I took her for Indian once, she didn't like it that much.

Oh and i need to mention about the dips they have there. There are two kinds, one is soy sauce with somoe chili, green onions and mashed garlic, the other one is the sesame sauce, soy sauce is for vegie and other side dishes, and sesame sauce is for meat. But it's actually pretty much your choice, whether you want to dip the meat with soy sauce or just eat it plain, it's all good!
The soup is good too. They use the dried bonito stock and seasoning only with sea salt to bring out the flavor. After all the the vegies and meat being cooked, it brings the soup to another level of tastes. You can actually taste the sweetness form it. And if that's not enough for you, they will make the rest of the stock and cook it with rice, along with some meat, and voila, you got yourself another bowl of porridge! Isn't that great?

Okay, I think I should stop from here and back to my work now. Have a great day everyone! :)

Let's BBQ

Victoria was back! Back to her wonderland. And of course there were tons of things needed to be done while she's here. Her trip here every time is always fully-scheduled, too many things within so little time.

So we met up with Denise the other day. She's our teacher back in college but then we got so close. We try to meet every year when she's back in Taiwan. And this is the place she highly recommended and said she had to eat this when she's in Taiwan.
So as you can see, this is a grill place. I've been to a few grill places but I never had a good impression on those because of the reasons below, one: we have to do the grilling ourselves and we burn the meat all the time, two: the portion is always so little and need to order a lot and of course it costs a lot, three: if the grill get crispy from the outside, sometimes its too dry from the inside. These are the reasons I come up with so far as my brain is blur since it's late at night and I've had a terrible day.

Back to food, so by the time when we got there, there were already quite a lot of people. The tables indoors seemed all being booked so we sat outside. There were various kinds of food for you to choose. And Denise said it's her treat since last time it was me and Victoria gave her a treat. I didn't think too much when i grabbed the food, just took whatever it is. And as you can see from the pics above, they are AMAZINGGGGGG I was soooo happy when i saw the food was served!

Also Denise insisted we ordered one drink which was lemonade and plum juice mixed together. She said we HAD TO drink it while eating the grill. And you know what? It's amazingly goooood, i was even happier, almost got to heaven

So this is it, the pics i took that night were not so good so i borrowed the pics from here:http://pen2.pixnet.net/blog/post/19424203

i miss this so bad

When K was working in Taipei we used to eat this quite often. We never get to eat this ever since he moved back to Kaohsiung. I was going through my old photos and I found these. The photos made me drooling so bad. It's the japanese style of cuisines and there are many choices on the menu as you can see on the first pic shown here. You can have sashimi, grill, tempura, drinks and dessert. The first time when k took me there, I was so excited over the menu and i wanted them all! My mom will love this so much as she only eats chinese and japanese food. I remembered one time I took her to an Indian place and she didn't really like it. She's not fond of that which was kinda pity cause I think Indian for once in a while is not a bad idea. I tried to convince her to try korean food but she said no right away. So pity on that too lol.
As you can see the dessert is banana chocolate ice cream. I missed that so much. It's perfect after you had a big meal and you could give yourself a sweet treat after that. The sashimi is always my favorite without a doubt.

I miss that. :(

brunch with victoria

This was last year when victoria came visit. We had a lazy morning, woke up late and were no rush at all to do our make up before going out. Everytime when she's here I always plan tons of things for her to do, but within the little time there is limitation to do them all. This is the time when i wish I could have 48 hours for a day so that I could do as much shopping and eating and hanging out with my dear victoria.
So I took her to this brunch place when she's around. I was so surprised by how gigantic the burger was during my first visit. My jaw was so sore cause the burger was huge that I couldn't have one full bite for a time lol. So v wanted to try the burger and we also had some pancakes as my food buddy always has his sunday pancake morning which makes me so jealous. Besides that we also had some chicken wings. V was definitely amazed by the size of the burger lol but she liked it a lot which made me happy to see her enjoying the food. Both the burger and the pancakes were really good, they also had some fries aside the burger. As for the pancake, it came with the hash brown and some bacon. The bacon was tasty and crunchy. The scrambled egg was a bit wet which intimidated me a bit since I always have the well-done eggs. But somehow i conquered it :D.

It was a great afternoon :D :D.

K insisted taking me to this ramen place after hanging out at the department store checking out my dream watch which i'm desperated to get but no budget. With quite a full stomach I really didn't have extra room for it and he was the same. But still he wanted to take me there, saying we could share one bowl of ramen and ordered something small to eat. It left me with no other options except to go with him. When we arrived there, it was already with people eating in it. So we ordered ramen, fried smash potato stuffing and the dry dumplings.
I'm always a big fan for potatoes in any kind of form so the potato cake was really good, so was the ramen. The soup was amazingly good, even for me with a full stomach, I still managed to eat some more! The dumplings... were quite average. It's only my personal taste, since they put leeks in the dumplings and it's always not on the top of my list. So I just had one (K insisted me to try it again). We walked out the restaurant with a happy smile on our faces :).

Grill like you mean it

You surely need to have certain skill to know how to grill it right, otherwise you will only burn the meat everytime, happens to me when last time we went to this place. It's to celebrate K with the new job. He's been thinking of going everytime but we didn't make it and finally we've fulfilled his dream. But like i said, you need to be good to grill. It takes good sense of hunch of when to change side or when it's ready. That's why I burned my meat everytime. Even though it's an all-you-can-eat grill place and you have plenty of opportunities to screw things up but it's better not to waste the food right. After all those people in Africa are all longing for feeding their stomachs.
For me, the meat is easier to do than the fish. I am always afraid of trying grilling the fish. The skin is like a sticker on the net if you don't do it properly. And no doubt about that the skin is the best part of the fish, crispy and crunchy with a bit of burning taste mixed with the bbq sauce, yum yum! To my surprise, I was doing so well with the fish! So proud of myself! Yay! It's a good start and i'm willing to try to do more fish next time!

Had lots of fun

It was supposed to be just a lunch time out, it turned out to be a small field trip. Had a great time but by the end of the day I had a heatstroke and a really bad migraine :(, not quite a nice ending but we surely did take a lot of photos. For lunch K took me to this Japanese restaurant which was recommended by his friends. When we got there there weren't a lot of people (2pm or something). We ordered some sushi and sashimi and the soup.

I love sashimi!!!! I adore the texture of it. Some people say raw fish is not hygiene but I don't care! I'm so addicted to it. Everytime I go to a Japanese restaurant sashimi is a must! But everytime it comes so little with rather high prices which is the probably the only disadvatage about it, other than that it's perfect unless it's not fresh. It's not exactly as good as what other people said about it. It's just average if i really have to rank it. I've had much better ones for sure. Besides, it's not as filling as we expected so we ordered another grilled beef sushi and after that it's better. :)
