The Chinese Place

Ken took me to this Chinese restaurant he used to go with his mom and dad since he was a little boy. The store has been running at least for a decade I suppose and it seems they have less customers now, obviously. The day we went, besides the other halls there were wedding ceremony and annual dinner for couple firms, not many people were eating there, only couple of tables were booked that night. The reason we went there was because Ken was there for dinner with his parents last week and he liked it, plus the price was quite a deal (each plate is 88nt dollars). So I asked him to take me there, just to make sure that it was really tasty.

We were led to the basement, the girl served us tea. Ken ordered pineapple with prawns, sweet and sour chicken, kung pao chicken, and fried beef with leeks, along with rice. We waited for quite a while before the dishes came. The first thing came was the pineapple with prawns. It was the most scary taste I've ever had, the pineapples I meant, tasted so fake. It seemed like that they've put too much of the sugar in it just to cover up the the fact that it's gone bad. I just had one piece of pineapple and that's it. The mayonnaise coated on the prawns was horrible too, bit too sweet for my taste. Next it was the sweet and sour chicken. Thank god it's not as bad as I've expected. The first two dishes were more sweet, and then it came the kung pao chicken. The chicken was stir fried with coated yam flour so it brought out of the sticky chewy to it. I normally like the peanuts aside with it but not this due to the fact that it's too moist and not crunchy. Crunchy is always better. The beef was not bad although I didn't finish my bowl of rice but thanks to Ken, he helped a lot.

So overall, it's quite a okie-dokie dinner. It's very affordable with no doubts, so no complaints. Even though the horrible taste from the pineapple stayed long in my mouth and I tried very hard to wash it out. Oh, and IF my dad were here, he would totally criticize it all the time from beginning to end, and then started to brag about how good he was and how would he cook it. Men!

I was wearing my plaids long top that day since I didn't have any new addition to my wardrobe, black leggings and the gladiator sandals I haven't worn for sometimes. It was quite a warm night so I took off my leather jacket. I love my leather jacket!

Seriouly, can I have this everyday?

I am dreaming about this almost everyday.
Truth be told, I wasn't so impressed the first time I tried, the portion was so small and for me it was particularly tasty. By the second time it has changed dramatically and i became so crazy about it ever since. And literarily I just want to have this everyday.

That place is always the most popular among others at the nigh market and it's not hard t figure out why. Ken took me there cause he knew i was a porridge person. The first thing I noticed was the amount of it cause it's kinda small but there was a lot of seafood, oysters, clams, shrimps, octopus and that nearly filled up the whole bowl and of coure they cooked right after people ordered. It's a must for my trip to Kaohsiung. But it's a pity I didn't get to eat that this time cause I was too full to have any more food. =(

The differences between the porridge from northern Taiwan and southern Taiwan is, they don't cook the rice too long so you still can see the rice and can still taste the rice absorbing the sweetness from the seafood while northern Taiwan tend to cook the rice till it's soup-like. And the flavor is stronger in the south, based on my understanding. I prefer the stronger flavored one though but it's just me.

Thanks to my friend's thoughtful notice, said that I could have it everyday as long as there's no mercury. LOL thanks

Night night, xoxo

Le ble d'or

Because one of the professors was transferring to another school, we had a farewell lunch the other day.
I was looking forward to this cause I've never been to this place already I've heard so much about it. My nurse friends highly recommends it. It was a rainy day on our way to the restaurant but still it didn't cool down my mood of going to have good food. =) We were the first customers that day and soon i started to read the menu. Everything looked so tasty in it and i wanted it all. So i ordered the pizza, others ordered salads, house specialty (with deep-fried spicy chicken, fries, sausages and German pork hock), of course the beer was included, it's a must!

I normally don't like beer cause it tastes so bitter and I always give the excuses of having allergy so I don't' drink. But since it's a farewell there's no excuses not to drink, since all the professors there drank so i drank too. It wasn't too bad, better than I expected. But drinking beer at noon was certainly not a good idea cause i felt so dizzy and sleepy in the afternoon and hardly could concentrate on my work. Beer tastes better while it's icy and cold, like coke. It tasted like shit when it's warm, i don't like it. lol The food was good overall, since potatoes are the blood in my veins. i was surprised with how big the house specialty was! But if someone else had ordered the spaghetti it would have been even better and more filling. But I couldn't do that since i wasn't the one who paid for it(was too shy lol), it's a pity.
And as being the youngest among this crew, I was in charge of getting them beer. I didn't mind doing that cause they are all very nice to me at work. They have taught me many things at work, since it was my first time working at the school adminitration department. And some of them even treat me their like daughter lol, besides my supervisor, of course. The only person she cares is herself and occasionally her sons.
This morning she asked if i had a haircut, I didn't have a haircut, I just wore my hair straight. lol
Oki, need to get back to work now, have a good day y'll.

If i really need to grow up

My boss called me late last night while i was in shower and left a voice msg asked me to call back, cause it's urgent. Turned out she's supposed to attend a conference but she couldn't make it, asked me if i could go. Apparently i didn't have another choice. I don't mind going to a conference. It's the idea of being on call. It's like she doesn't have a life and she doesn't give a shit about others. If i was paid triple my salary, i wouldn't say another word of it. But she's just one selfish wh_ _ _ (i dont want to say that, please fill in the blank yourself.) But anywaysss, what you gotta do, you can't hide it.

Luckily, the conference started at 9, i got to get up a bit later than i used to. Got myself ready and took off. I tried to put myself together and looked as professional as possible. It was indeed very different from the conference we held last month. It's much bigger and more details were being taken care of. I should take notes of the things they've done and we haven't, to make us better. Was kinda nervous actually, though i tried to be cool about it and tried to look like i've done this a million times. But guess i was dressing too fashionable among professors and teachers lol and other administrators. But what the heck.

I left before the afternoon session started. It was such a lovely day and very sunny and warm when I walked out the conference. But i could only use my crappy cell phone cause I left my camera home. Treated myself with lovely japanese ramen that was recommended by Ken who misses the food here so much. It did take me quite a while to find that store, after all we girls normally don't have much sense when it comes to look for directions. But luckily i've found it at last. Ordered the fried pork ramen.

So here came the ramen, it's so big and the pork was enormous but i was very happy. Even though the fact that i was eating alone was kinda sad cause there's no one that i could share with only through taking to my bf on the phone and sending mms to my friend victoria. But I'm learning to be a strong and independent person. And i think i should be one. =)

Oh well, i think it's too late and i should sleep now. Just want to do a shout out for my first blog here. Hope everyone is eating well and having a good life. Even if it's not it's alright cause there are many other things that are worth seeing and experiencing, right?
