The Chinese Place

Ken took me to this Chinese restaurant he used to go with his mom and dad since he was a little boy. The store has been running at least for a decade I suppose and it seems they have less customers now, obviously. The day we went, besides the other halls there were wedding ceremony and annual dinner for couple firms, not many people were eating there, only couple of tables were booked that night. The reason we went there was because Ken was there for dinner with his parents last week and he liked it, plus the price was quite a deal (each plate is 88nt dollars). So I asked him to take me there, just to make sure that it was really tasty.

We were led to the basement, the girl served us tea. Ken ordered pineapple with prawns, sweet and sour chicken, kung pao chicken, and fried beef with leeks, along with rice. We waited for quite a while before the dishes came. The first thing came was the pineapple with prawns. It was the most scary taste I've ever had, the pineapples I meant, tasted so fake. It seemed like that they've put too much of the sugar in it just to cover up the the fact that it's gone bad. I just had one piece of pineapple and that's it. The mayonnaise coated on the prawns was horrible too, bit too sweet for my taste. Next it was the sweet and sour chicken. Thank god it's not as bad as I've expected. The first two dishes were more sweet, and then it came the kung pao chicken. The chicken was stir fried with coated yam flour so it brought out of the sticky chewy to it. I normally like the peanuts aside with it but not this due to the fact that it's too moist and not crunchy. Crunchy is always better. The beef was not bad although I didn't finish my bowl of rice but thanks to Ken, he helped a lot.

So overall, it's quite a okie-dokie dinner. It's very affordable with no doubts, so no complaints. Even though the horrible taste from the pineapple stayed long in my mouth and I tried very hard to wash it out. Oh, and IF my dad were here, he would totally criticize it all the time from beginning to end, and then started to brag about how good he was and how would he cook it. Men!

I was wearing my plaids long top that day since I didn't have any new addition to my wardrobe, black leggings and the gladiator sandals I haven't worn for sometimes. It was quite a warm night so I took off my leather jacket. I love my leather jacket!
